22-Year-Old Killed In Crash At Long Island Intersection

A 22-year-old was killed in a two-vehicle crash crash at an intersection on Long Island overnight.

It happened around 11:20 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12 in Smithtown.

A 17-year-old from Nesconset was driving a 2000 Nissan Pathfinder westbound on Carriage House Road when he made a left turn onto Route 25A and struck a northbound 2007 Honda motorcycle operated by James Shellock, 22, of Smithtown, Suffolk County Police said.

Shellock was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to police. 

The driver of the Pathfinder was not injured, said police.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.
